How tight should your glasses fit?

Your glasses should not feel too tight on the side of your face. If your glasses feel uncomfortably tight and you are finding that the sides of your glasses are stretching out when you put them on then this could be an indication that your glasses are too tight. The end temples of your glasses arms should sit comfortably enough around your ears so that they do not slide down your face when you look down, but also not too tight that they hurt the back of your ears.

How do you know when glasses are too big?

If your glasses frames are coming over your eyebrows and are touching your cheeks, this means that your glasses are way too big for your face. Similarly, if your glasses are slipping down your face then this also means that your glasses are definitely too big for your face. You should also avoid glasses that are too wide on your face. You can see if your glasses frames overflow your face, like the side ends of your frames are way wider than your face then this may not be an appealing look for you. If you opt for glasses that are too wide for your face it can cause issues like it slipping down your nose but also cosmetically it can also give the illusion that your eyes are close together and give you a cross-eyed look, which isn’t particularly flattering. Just like how your glasses can be too wide, your glasses can also be too narrow for your face. Narrow glasses will add extra weight to your face which we want to avoid and will also cause the side arms of your glasses to splay outwards, this splaying will cause painful dents in the side of the head and lines which do not look particularly attractive. Narrow glasses will also feel tight behind the ears, which will cause headaches and can be particularly painful.

How should glasses sit on your nose?

The perfect pair of glasses will rest exactly on the bridge of your nose, they should be pushing backwards towards your forehead or pushing down on your cheeks. If your glasses are sitting too low on your face, this may be because the nose pads of your glasses need to be adjusted. The angle of the nose pads on your glasses can change the way your glasses rest on your face. Pushing the nose pads closer together will have your glasses sit higher on your face, so if you want your glasses to sit higher on your face then you can try to pinch your nose pads together. It is important to do this very carefully as the nose pads of your glasses are very fragile, and if done in a harsh manner it may cause them to break off. Using the support of your thumb and index finger, bend the nose pads inwards, slowly, a little at a time. Bending them too quickly or too much at once can snap the metal that the nose pads are supported by. Once you have adjusted your nose pads, give them a try and see how they feel - if they feel too tight then you should not worry as it is just as easy to push the nose pads backwards to loosen them up to your preferences.

Where should glasses sit on ears?

The temples of your glasses, which is the end of the arms, should sit very comfortably on the top of your ears without feeling too tight or feeling like there is a lot of pressure on your ears. The bend on the temples of your glasses should start exactly where the temples come into contact with your ears. This ensures that your glasses will not fall forward when looking down and keep your glasses stable on your face
